Many visitors to this site know
of our love for animals, and that we live on a small ranch with
dogs, cats, miniature horses, and alpacas.
Perhaps most special are our alpacas, Coco and Frankie. There are uncountable ways in which they are so special, and special to Cindy and me. It would not be possible to communicate what it is like to hold, hug, and walk alpaca. To bury your face deep into the softest wool on the planet, and breath deep the wild-sweet aroma of an undomesticated animal that can bring an amazing peace to your heart.
All this and I haven't touched on their astonishing beauty, gentleness, and personalities unlike any other animal.
Coco and Frankie have brought a love and light into our lives that very few people ever get a moment to experience.
On Wednesday August 29 Coco and Frankie suddenly became critically ill. Coco passed later that day. Frankie joined his brother five days later on Monday. Tests are ongoing to determine if they were intentionally poisoned.
These events are a reminder that with every day we must let those we care for know how much we love them.
If you ever have the opportunity to visit with alpaca, do not pass it up. In the meantime, you may want to see a few of our pictures.
9/8/2007 Update
Though it would not be possible for anything to fill the void left by Coco and Frankie, Pachelbel Ranch would not be complete without alpaca. Today we brought three new members into our family–Tux, Hymn, and Maestro.
Tux is a beautiful three year old with a most inquisitive attitude and bottomless spit tanks!
Hymn is a 3 year old rescue alpaca that just wants a home that loves him. I know he has found it.
Maestro is our new handsome yearling that we hope will soon be bringing home the ribbons.
All of our family may be seen in our Family link.
